My RV journey started long before I ever owned a rig. I’ve been connected to the outdoors and the open road since I was young. I was born in Arkansas and raised as a military dependent, which meant traveling, moving, adapting quickly, and learning to appreciate new places were part of everyday life. And throughout all the stages of my life, that southern hospitality stayed with me, no matter where I lived. I learned early that people appreciate a friendly face, a calm voice, and someone who’s willing to help. Boy Scouts introduced me to camping early, setting up tents, building fires, and learning the basics that would later inform my RV life. Back in the 1960s, when I was a teenager, my grandparents visited from Cincinnati in a rented RV. Seeing that rig pull up to the house lit something in me. That’s when the RV bug took hold, and I knew one day I’d have a rig of my own. I became an RVer in the late 1980s, starting with simple pop ups and working my way through Class C rigs before eventually transitioning to Class A coaches. Today, I travel in a Tiffin Phaeton, and like many RVers, I still have a dream rig on my wishlist; the Newmar Dutch Star 4081. My father passed during the pandemic, but he’s still part of how I travel and how I carry myself. He always wanted to RV as a younger man, and when I finally made it to Yellowstone, my most memorable trip, I knew he was proud. And if you know me, you know the Blues has been the soundtrack to a lot of miles. That music, those roads, and the people I’ve met along the way all blend into the rhythm of my journey. I first joined the National African American RV Association (NAARVA) in 1991. Years later, in 2012, I became a member of the Rhythmic Rollers RV Club, a Southern Region NAARVA chapter representing RVers from Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The Rollers are known for glamping, decorated scooters and bikes at rallies, and a strong sense of community. It’s a culture built on fellowship, shared meals, music, laughter, and looking out for one another. In Rhythmic Rollers, I never chased titles, but people trusted me. Over time, members began coming to me for guidance; trip planning, campsite help, mechanical questions, and general support. They encouraged me to run for board positions year after year, but I always declined. Even so, folks treated me like a leader, and I eventually agreed to serve as Wagon Master. I held that role for more than a decade before stepping away in 2025. My RV consulting approach has always been simple: stay calm, be practical, and help people enjoy their trip. One day, one of the guys called me from Alabama. His slide wouldn’t go in, and he was ready to cancel his trip to Boston. I told him, “Don’t stress. Things are gonna break.” I helped him get someone out there to close the slide, and told him to go on to Boston, enjoy himself, and deal with the repair when he got home. That’s the heart of how I help people. After nearly 40 years on the road, I’ve learned that RVing is about safety, joyfulness, confidence, community, and keeping your cool. That’s how I help people stay calm, focused, and moving towards the planned enjoyment of their RV adventure. From pop ups, to Class C rigs, to my current Class A Tiffin Phaeton, I’ve lived every stage of the RV journey. My goal is simple: make sure every RVer I work with feels informed, supported, and ready for the road.
